Let’s Knit is one of my favourite magazines. As a new feature for the Bulldog Krafts website I will knit up a project each month. Photographs courtesy of John McLoughlin (www.johnmcloughlin.co.uk)
I’ve knitted this pattern in Super 20 yarn; this is slightly heavier than a regular 4 ply but worked to the correct tension in this lacy pattern. I am really going to enjoy wearing this top. I knitted mine in Emerald Green and our special offer will also include Lemon and Lime Green. Please note that the Emerald and Lime are quite bright and vibrant colours. The Lemon is a pastel so it is a similar shade to that used in the Let’s Knit photos.

The two colours on special offer this month are Strawberry
and Regal.

ErrorsFront, shape left neck The left neck starts where you work to the centre 25 sts and turn. This leaves 29 (33, 36, 39) sts for the left neck/shoulder. Next row (ws): p1 p2tog, work to end Next row (rs): work to three sts before end, k2tog k1 The next instruction - repeat last 2 rows 6 (7, 7, 7) times would not leave enough stitches to finish shaping the shoulder. Instead you need to follow these two rows until you have decreased by 6 (7, 7, 7) sts, leaving 21 (23, 25, 30) sts. The rest of the instructions for the left neck are fine but the error is repeated on the right neck. |

Knitting Tips:The tips on page 41 are very good but I wanted to give a little more guidance on the increases for this specific pattern. On the front and the back you need to increase each end by nine stitches. I recommend that you do this by adding an extra knit stitch to end until you have enough to integrate these stitches into the pattern. ‘Enough’ in this case would be 3, then 6, then 9. When you have 6 extra stitches the pattern is worked as written in the instructions – this is because the repeat is 6 stitches. When you have 3 or 9 extra stitches the pattern would read:

Special Feature: multicoloured poncho on page 15This yarn really looks amazing knitted up and the bright colours are lovely. The pattern is very simple – it starts from the top and is worked in the round so there is no sewing! Two skeins of yarn are enough to make a poncho about 14 inches in length, with three skeins this can be increased to about 19 inches. The instructions include two sizes and there are eyelets and a tie to ensure a comfortable fit. |
